The Apple Mac OS X Lion is a desktop operating system from Apple Inc. It was released in 2011 and was available for purchase in the Mac App Store. After downloading, it can be installed on a virtual machine for testing purposes or, if necessary, it can be installed on a real Apple computer as well.
The MacOS X Lion 10.7 ISO file is around 4.79 GB in size. Download the Internet Download Manager tool and it will allow you to download big files in equal amounts of time without breaking your connection.

It is compressed by the 7-zip utility and in exe file format. In case, your Windows OS is not extracting the file, you can download the 7-zip utility from the official site here.Make sure that the destination is having enough disk space to extract the files and use the VM in future.
I do not understand the exact reason why the VMware tools is not installed on this image. Anyhow, the darwin.iso file is included in this download. We can use this file to install VMware tools inside the Lion OS X guest machine to get multiple display resolutions and better performance.I recommend taking a snapshot before proceeding further steps.
I can find numerous packages saying, for example "OS X Lion 10.7.2 Build XXXXX", but all of them seem to updates and are relatively small in size ( 700 MB). I can't seem to find any image that would allow me to install a fresh 10.7 or 10.8 inside a new VM.
I hope I'm posting in the right sub-forum. I'm using the free VMware Fusion Player license (application version 12.1.2 running on a 2020 Intel Mac running macOS 10.15.7). I tried installing Mac OS X 10.7 Lion downloaded from Apple's website here (I own the original DVD as well, but don't have an optical drive), yet I can't seem to install it.
1. Download the installer for the same version of macOS you are running, e.g. via App Store or one of Apple's support pages for downloading recent macOS versions (which does the download via System Preferences for macOS 10.13 High Sierra and later). This places an "Install macOS [version name].app" into your Applications folder.
2. Create a new macOS VM in VMware Fusion, for the version you've just downloaded. Point it to the installer application. When setting up the VM, note that you will require at least 10 GB of free space inside the VM, in addition to whatever it normally needs.
In the installer script for macOS 10.7 Lion and later, there is an explicit check for whether it is running in a VM. In that case it bypasses the model check. Using Lion as an example, the Distribution file in the installer package contains a function isVirtualMachine() which is called from isSupportedPlatform(). It detects the VM by looking for "VMM" in the output of sysctl machdep.cpu.features. If not running on a VM, it checks a board-id retrieved from the I/O registry against a list of supported values, which can be mapped to specific Mac models.
I want to install xcode on vmware image mac os x lion 10.7 ..I went to app store but it won't let me download because it's the latest version which not compatible with lion 10.7 ..I don't have an developer account .. So, is there any way to install an old xcode ?
As I mentioned earlier, running another copy of the operating system in a virtual machine can help you in two ways: protect your privacy and keep your safe from viruses/malware. Starting with OS X Lion (10.7), you can install the operating system as many times as you like into a virtual machine as long as it is on the same hardware.
You can install OS X Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite, or El Capitan into a virtual machine on your Mac computer. Before you get started with the download method, you need to grab a copy of the OS X installer from the App Store.
Click the Download button and the install app will be downloaded to your Applications folder in OS X. The download will be several GBs in size, so it could take a while for the download to complete.
Apple systems on Mac OS X installation disc image, use the dmg format of the original image. I recommend to search for ed2k network download (recommended), the keyword is "Mac OS X Mountain Lion dmg" or "Mac OS X Lion dmg". Described here no longer compile.
I downloaded the file (macosx_guest_vmware_7.tar.gz) just to see what it contains (in order to help you :-) ). Did you read the README file? Because, it has very clearly given instructions that you need to do in order to this patch to work.
I am running vmware workstation 12 pro . VMware unlcoker for vmware12 pro to unlock vmware and run mac osX as guest operation system in it.In terminal type sudo bash lix-install.sh from downloaded file. Now you will have option to install mac osX in vmware 12 pro
In a friend's Mac, download the desired OS installer (High Sierra in my case for my MacBook Pro Late 2011 - google "How to Download a Full macOS High Sierra Installer App") and create the bootable USB, HDD or even SSD with Disk Creator (2 steps very friendly freeware tool - google "disk creator").
If you have access to a second Mac you should be able to create a bootable OS installer following the guide and OS download I posted above. Make sure you format the USB thumb drive to GUID Journaled file system before you start.
Also don't have an answer but I have got a completely wiped iMac late 2011 trying to install Lion (or just any OS for that matter!). Read through all the comments, tried the date/time fix in Terminal but no year between 2009 to now makes any difference, same error- cant download additional components needed to install Mac OS". And if connecting to WIFI overrides the date/time fix then how are you supposed to install the OS? Connecting to Safari via MAC Utilities and downloading it doesn't work either because you download the dmg file but because theres no OS, theres nothing to then open the dmg file?!?! Help!
I attempted to do that with my newer Mac (Late 2011 model), with OS X Lion installed (Windows XP), and I seem to have lost my disc to install the lion drivers on the Windows partition, meaning I can't get internet or use any programs.
First, if you are using the Boot Camp Assistant installed by Lion, then you cannot run XP. Only Win7. Support drivers are downloaded from Apple. You can read about this by opening Boot Camp Assistant and click on the large Print Documentation button.

Guys,Only VMware 4.1.3 works on Mountain Lion and not below versions period.I had version 3.1.3 and downloaded mountain lion, without viewing its compatibility with vmware 3.1.3. I suffer as all do. Mistakes happen, what can I say. Finally, I downloaded their trail version 4.1.3 to check if it really works, to my surprise VMWare is up, but there are couple of issues.1. Display sometimes acts weird, when Windows boots at logon screen, it shows black screen, I cannot enter password, all I have to do is re-boot again by shutting down.2. When screen saver gets activated, while not using, systems hangs when I try to re-use the system. I have to shutdown MAC completely to get back, no other option works, simply hangs.3. Looks like VMWare 4.1.3, takes a lot of time to boot itself, so if i try to open any browser or outlook or word or excel, system hangs for few mins. This also leads to hang, Safari browser or any application on Mac. It is very irritating, but it looks like I have wait for a period of 5 mins for VMWare to settle down then open applications on VM as well on MAC.4. Graphical issues are very much there for VMWare, looks like VMWare is using us, to test their new release :). Pay them US$50.00 and test their product. Amazing way of doing business.I trust the information helps, I still playing with VM 4.1.3 will advise if any interesting thing i come across.PS: I could get back my last VM 3.1.3 data when i used trail version 4.1.3, at least I got my files back, which was more important.Francis 2ff7e9595c
